Vinodol, Bribir Interpretation Center\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

29.\/30.04.2022. – Exhibition – Vinodol Code, the cradle of European law<\/p>

The exhibition is dedicated to the Vinodol Code as the oldest fully preserved monument of customary law in this area. Bribir is mentioned for the first time in the Vinodol Code as one of the cities that signed the code. The Vinodol Code is taken as the starting point for the protection of human rights. It is also a rich source for getting to know the everyday life of the inhabitants of Vinodol as an area that was under the rule of the Frankopans. This unit is followed by the thematic unit “Crimes and their punishments: a picture book of verdicts”, emphasizing the interesting features of this code in the context of prison spaces located in the Turan tower.<\/p>

The Interpretation Center itself is dedicated to other thematic units, such as the tower “Turan” (synonym for the tower) as the keeper of the secrets of the Bribir castle. Bribir Castle was built in the early 13th century, while the tower in which the center is located was built in 1302. The interior of the tower has preserved the historic phase of the tower’s transformation into a prison. Bribir Castle experienced its greatest prosperity in the 16th century during the reign of Bernardin Frankopan, when extensive work was done on the restoration and strengthening of the castle itself.<\/p>

On the touch screen, visitors can get acquainted with other cities and areas ruled by the Franks. Also with other cities signatories to the Vinodol Code. The names of the nine cities that signed the Vinodol Code are written in Frankopan typography on hanging flags hanging from a roof shaped like a glazed cube.<\/p>
