{"id":11823,"date":"2025-10-14T12:16:21","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T12:16:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/?p=11823"},"modified":"2025-10-14T12:16:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T12:16:21","slug":"giftsnet-workshop-sustainable-event-management-and-tourism-destination-governance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/en\/giftsnet-workshop-sustainable-event-management-and-tourism-destination-governance\/","title":{"rendered":"GIFTSNET WORKSHOP: SUSTAINABLE EVENT MANAGEMENT AND TOURISM DESTINATION GOVERNANCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>St. John\u2019s Fortress as a Hub for Knowledge Exchange and Sustainable Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From Monday, 27 October to Wednesday, 29 October 2025, the classrooms of the Educational Campus at St. John\u2019s Fortress in \u0160ibenik will become a centre for knowledge exchange, networking, and planning future activities related to sustainable management of cultural heritage and tourism.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop \u201cSustainable Event Management and Tourism Destination Governance\u201d, organized by Fortress of Culture \u0160ibenik as the lead partner of the GIFTSnet \u2013 Network for Green and Inclusive Fortified Tourism Solutions project, will gather around sixty professionals in cultural management and sustainability from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11812\" src=\"https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-3-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-3-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-3.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Workshop Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The workshop aims to broaden the understanding of sustainability and deepen knowledge of sustainable development principles, as well as to highlight the role of cultural institutions and the tourism sector in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n<p>Participants will gain practical tools and insights for integrating sustainable practices within their organizations and events, while the interdisciplinary approach will encourage collaboration among stakeholders from various fields \u2013 culture, tourism, environmental protection, and public administration.<\/p>\n<p>Through hands-on work, participants will develop action plans and proposals to improve sustainability within their own projects, institutions, or destinations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Three Days of Learning: From Theory to Practice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The three-day programme combines theoretical and practical perspectives on sustainable development in the cultural and tourism context.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day, 27 October, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of event sustainability, strategic frameworks, and the international standard ISO 20121, followed by practical exercises in designing sustainable events.<\/p>\n<p>The second day, 28 October, will focus on resource management and environmental protection, climate action, and practical methods for reducing energy, water, and material consumption. Participants will also explore examples of sustainable waste management and biodiversity protection and learn about relevant European regulations, including the CSRD Directive.<\/p>\n<p>On the final day, 29 October, the workshop will focus on communication, branding, and audience engagement, with an emphasis on storytelling and community involvement in sustainability processes.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will develop communication plans for their own projects, using the \u201cNight of Fortresses Goes Green\u201d initiative as a reference example of how sustainability principles can be effectively integrated and communicated through cultural events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workshop Leader: Laura Orli\u0107 (Artivist Company)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The workshop will be led by Laura Orli\u0107, founder of Artivist Company, an organization dedicated to sustainable development in the fields of cultural heritage and business.<\/p>\n<p>With more than twenty years of international experience in people and organizational development, Laura designs educational programmes that connect art, the business sector, and sustainability, inspiring the creation of organizations focused on social impact and a sustainable future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the GIFTSnet Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11804\" src=\"https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/nightoffortresses.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Edukativni-kampus-1.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The workshop is organized as part of the GIFTSnet \u2013 Network for Green and Inclusive Fortified Tourism Solutions project, funded through the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia \u2013 Bosnia and Herzegovina \u2013 Montenegro 2021\u20132027 Programme.
