A guided tour for visitors to the site of the former church of St. Michael next to the Old Town of Dubovac, organized by the Karlovac City Museum, provides insight into the rich history of this area through archaeological discoveries and historical sources. During the walk, children fill out leaflets about their observations of the surroundings and the environment, with an emphasis on nature, ecology, environmental awareness, and with an emphasis on cultural and historical heritage upon arrival at the Old Town itself, where they will become little archaeologists learning about archaeological excavations.
21:00 – TrashCash – DJ program
TrashCash is a DJ and performer whose sets are not only carried by hits, but also by the feeling that remains behind them. His sound is based on carefully constructed trajectories of well-known songs that take the audience back to other, for many, more beautiful times — but always with new energy. Through remixes and unexpected transitions, well-known hits gain a dance dimension and sound as if you are hearing them for the first time. Nothing is random with him: every song has its place, and every evening its own rhythm and meaning.
On both days of the event, visitors to the old town can expect the following program from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm:
Costumed actors who take visitors back to the Middle Ages
Light effects with ambient music
Exhibition of the Folklore Ensemble “Matija Gubec”
The exhibition of the Folklore Ensemble Matija Gubec presents a cross-section of the ensemble’s many years of activity. Through photographs, costumes and documentation, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the wealth of Croatian cultural heritage, folk customs, dances and music that the ensemble cherishes and passes on to new generations.
Exhibition “Kockice na Dubovac”
In collaboration with the “Kockice” Club, the official club of Lego fans in Croatia, this exhibition brings impressive Lego models and sculptures. Visitors will be able to participate in creative workshops, speedbuild competitions and Lego board games. Special attention is paid to the medieval theme, connecting Lego castles with the architecture of the Old Town of Dubovac.
Exhibition “Dubovac through the centuries”
In the newly renovated Branič Tower of the Old Town of Dubovac, an exhibition has been set up that does not retell old stories, but questions them. Through the results of archaeological and conservation research, through layers of soil, walls and records, Dubovac is revealed as a place of exceptionally long continuity of life. It brings visitors a new reading of the history of one of the most important Karlovac sites. Because there are few places in Croatia where life from prehistoric times to the present day can be so clearly followed.
Collection of picture books
The Ivan Goran Kovačić City Library collects donated picture books to equip the Small Free Libraries – wooden book houses, which encourages reading among children and the use of “old” picture books instead of buying new ones.

17:00 and 20:00 – Guided tour of the archaeological site
A guided tour for visitors to the site of the former church of St. Michael next to the Old Town of Dubovac, organized by the Karlovac City Museum, provides insight into the rich history of this area through archaeological discoveries and historical sources. During the guided tour, visitors are introduced to the archaeological research that uncovered the remains of the church and cemetery, and testify to the long-standing sacral and social importance of this place. Special emphasis is placed on the history of the Dubovac parish, the development of the settlement around the Old Town of Dubovac, and the connection of the church with the feudal estate and the life of the medieval community.
18:00 – 19:30 – Thematic tourist tour “Through the Forest to the Fortress”
The walking tour connects cultural and historical heritage with an emphasis on environmental awareness. The tour begins in front of the National Shrine of St. Joseph, where guides from the Bastion association introduce the tour participants to the route. It then moves towards a forest path that leads to the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Snows, and ends in the Old Town. The tour is designed for families with children.
