PREDAVANJE SREDNJOVJEKOVNE KOMUNALIJE

Zbrinjavanje otpada, vodovod i kanalizacija su danas u gotovo svakoj sredini osnova civilizacijskog minimuma. No kada razmišljamo o prošlosti Starog grada Ozlja, malo tko se zapita kako su se te stvari tamo riješavale tijekom srednjeg vijeka. Jesu li reciklirali otpad? Jeli voda koju su pili bila zdravstveno ispravna? Kako su im izgledala ona mjesta kamo i kraljevi idu pješke? I, najvažnije od svega, kako su se općenito brinuli o svome okolišu? Neki od odgovora na ova pitanja nalaze se zakopani ispod površine zemlje, a zahvaljujući najnovijim arheološkim istraživanjima u Starom gradu, moći ćemo barem pokušati odgovoriti na njih kroz jedno zanimljivo predavanje.

STRUČNO VODSTVO OKO STAROG GRADA OZLJA
– OZALJSKA OAZA MIRA
Stari grad Ozalj okružen je bogatim prirodnim krajolikom koji uključuje park-šumu i zaštićena područja. Ova zelena oaza obiluje raznolikim biljnim i životinjskim vrstama. Dio područja pripada ekološkoj mreži Natura 2000, što potvrđuje njegovu vrijednost uz dvije posebne špilje (Ozaljska špilja, Vrlovka). Rijeka Kupa dodatno obogaćuje krajolik i stvara poseban ugođaj mira. Za Noć tvrđava 2026. organizirat ćemo vodstvo Park šumom oko Starog grada Ozlja i nešto šire.

Lecture: Medieval Utilities

Waste management, water supply, and sewage systems are today considered a basic standard of civilization in almost every community. However, when we think about the past of the Old Town of Ozalj, we rarely ask how these needs were managed in the Middle Ages. Did they recycle waste? Was the water they drank safe? What did the places “even kings go to on foot” look like? And most importantly – how did they take care of their environment? Some of the answers lie hidden beneath the ground, and thanks to the latest archaeological research at the Old Town, we will try to uncover them through this engaging lecture.

Guided Tour Around the Old Town of Ozalj – The Ozalj Oasis of Peace

The Old Town of Ozalj is surrounded by a rich natural landscape that includes a forest park and protected areas. This green oasis is home to diverse plant and animal species, and part of the area belongs to the Natura 2000 ecological network. Its special value is enhanced by two caves – Ozalj Cave and Vrlovka Cave. The Kupa River further enriches the landscape and creates a unique atmosphere of peace. On the occasion of Night of Fortresses 2026, a guided tour through the forest park and the wider area around the Old Town of Ozalj will be organized.
