8. svibnja 2026. (petak), 2. kat tvrđave Nehaj
Večer će započeti otvorenjem izložbe „Upoznajmo Frankopane“ u 18 sati na 2. katu tvrđave Nehaj. Izložba „Upoznajmo Frankopane“ dio je projekta Primorsko-goranske županije Kulturno-turistička ruta „Putovima Frankopana“ kojim se promovira bogata baština plemićke obitelji Frankopan. Ova izložba ujedinjuje kulturnu, gastronomsku i turističku ponudu Primorsko-goranske županije, vezanu uz povijesnu ostavštinu velikaške obitelji Frankopan. U okviru izložbe posjetitelji će se moći upoznati s kulturno-turističkom rutom Frankopana, svim njezinim lokacijama (17 kaštela i 3 sakralna objekta), interpretacijskim centrima i multimedijalnim sadržajem. Posjetitelji Frankopane mogu upoznati i kroz gastro kutak te priču o kruhu Frangipane, torti DeliciAna i frankopanskim vinima i pjenušcima, nastalih u suradnji s lokalnim proizvođačima. Moguće je i pročitati tiskovine nastale u sklopu projekta, frankopanske slikovnice namijenjene najmlađima, a putem izložbenih plakata, uz skeniranje QR koda, posjetitelji mogu pristupiti audio vodiču i zanimljivostima o Frankopanima.
Program na engleskom jeziku/Program description in the English language:
8th May 2026, second floor of Fortress Nehaj, Senj
The evening will begin with the opening of the exhibition “Meet the Frankopans” at 6:00 PM, on the second floor of Nehaj Fortress. The exhibition is part of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County project, the Cultural-tourist route “The Routes of the Frankopans,” aimed at presenting and promoting the rich heritage of the Frankopan noble family.
Through a thoughtfully designed concept, the exhibition brings together the cultural, gastronomic, and tourism offerings of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, all rooted in the historical legacy of the Frankopans. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Cultural-tourist route “The Routes of the Frankopans,” including all of its locations—seventeen castles and three sacral sites—as well as its interpretation centres and multimedia content. A special feature of the exhibition is its collaboration with local artists, whose works form an integral part of the display and offer contemporary reflections on Frankopan heritage. Highlights also include costumes by fashion designer Juraj Zigman, inspired by the Frankopans. The exhibition also features a gastronomic segment, where visitors can discover the Frankopans through culinary stories, including Frangipane bread, the DeliciAna cake, and a selection of Frankopan wines and sparkling wines, created in collaboration with local producers. Visitors can also browse publications produced as part of the project, including illustrated Frankopan-themed books for younger audiences. By scanning QR codes on the exhibition panels, they can access an audio guide and additional insights into the history and legacy of the Frankopans. The project brings together the natural, cultural, gastronomic, and tourism offerings of the region, while highlighting the connections between Croatian medieval history and the wider European context.
Children’s Workshop (ages 8–12), led by artist Margareta Peršić, begins at 7:00 PM with an interactive storytelling session inspired by picture books from the „Cultural-tourist route „The Routes of the Frankopans“ series. Through these stories, children become acquainted with the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Frankopan castles and their surrounding landscapes. Following the storytelling segment, participants take part in introductory games that encourage collaboration and creative thinking, gradually leading them into the visual art portion of the workshop. In the creative segment, children create artworks inspired by motifs from the story, using a variety of artistic techniques and materials. Special emphasis is placed on natural and simple materials, fostering awareness of sustainability and a connection with nature—values promoted by the event Night of Fortresses Goes Green 2026. Participants will craft symbolic keys that unlock the secrets of old castles, magical wands made from wood, fabric, and decorative elements, and illustrate letters from the word “Frankopani” using pastels on black paper. All participants will experience three different visual art techniques, encouraging exploration of materials as well as the development of creativity and imagination. In a playful and educational way, the workshop connects the cultural heritage of the Frankopan legacy with artistic expression and environmental awareness, inspiring children to discover the importance of preserving nature and historic spaces through play and art.
The workshop is organized in collaboration with pupils from the S. S. Kranjčević Primary School in Senj, further highlighting the importance of involving the local community in the preservation and interpretation of cultural heritage. The entire event will take place in the beautiful setting of the Nehaj Fortress in Senj on May 8, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, while Nehaj Fortress will remain open to visitors until 10:00 PM.
