U večernjim satima 9. maja 2026. godine, Stari grad u Ulcinju postaće pozornica susreta prošlosti i savremenog zvuka, u okviru manifestacije Noć tvrđava. Koncert horova iz regiona (u okviru programa festivala horova „Zvuci sa rive“) biće osmišljen kao jedinstveno muzičko putovanje kroz istoriju i identitet prostora.
U središtu programa nalazi se kompozicija Vertikalna snaga autorke Slobodanka Bobana Dabović Đurić, koja će biti prisutna na događaju i lično predstaviti svoje djelo. Kompozicija je posvećena Jelena Balšić – srednjovjekovnoj vladarki i značajnoj duhovnoj i političkoj ličnosti čije je djelovanje duboko obilježilo život Starog grada Ulcinja. Njena mudrost, diplomatska umješnost i sposobnost očuvanja mira pretočeni su u savremeni horski izraz, napisan za mješoviti hor, koji priziva duh vremena i oživljava slojeve kolektivnog pamćenja.
Izvođenje na stepeništu tvrđave nije samo prostorni izbor, već umjetnički čin koji briše granice između izvođača, publike i istorijskog ambijenta. Kamen, glas i tišina stapaju se u jedinstvenu cjelinu, u kojoj prostor postaje aktivni učesnik muzičkog događaja.
Ovaj koncert predstavlja spoj kulturne baštine, savremene umjetničke interpretacije i autentičnog ambijenta, stvarajući snažno iskustvo koje povezuje prošlost i sadašnjost, lokalno nasljeđe i regionalni dijalog, umjetnost i prostor.

In the evening hours of May 9, 2026, the Old Town of Ulcinj will become a stage for the encounter between the past and contemporary sound, as part of the Fortress Night event. A concert of choirs from the region (within the programme of the choral festival Sounds from the Riviera) will be conceived as a unique musical journey through the history and identity of the site.
At the heart of the programme is the composition Vertical Strength, by Slobodanka Bobana Dabović Đurić, who will be present at the event and personally introduce her work. The piece is dedicated to Jelena Balšić – a medieval ruler and an important spiritual and political figure whose life and legacy profoundly shaped the Old Town of Ulcinj. Her wisdom, diplomatic skill, and ability to preserve peace are translated into a contemporary choral expression written for a mixed choir, evoking the spirit of the past and reviving layers of collective memory.
The performance on the fortress staircase is not merely a spatial choice, but an artistic act that dissolves the boundaries between performers, audience, and the historical setting. Stone, voice, and silence merge into a unified whole, where the space itself becomes an active participant in the musical event.
This concert represents a fusion of cultural heritage, contemporary artistic interpretation, and an authentic setting, creating a powerful experience that connects past and present, local heritage and regional dialogue, art and space.
